My doggos caught, and ate, a bunny in the yard last week.  It wasn’t a great day for the bunny.

Ruby showed no interest in the bunny family that were living under our deck last year.

I have seen Cornbread tear across the yard at something small and furry though so hopefully they find a new home this year.

Last year we had a bunny family take up residence under our deck.

Hopefully they decide to move elsewhere given that the yard is now patrolled by two greyhounds. If not I am certain I’ll be cleaning up bunny guts at some point.

Seeing a whippet or a greyhound tear across a large field is truly a sight to behold. Unfortunately sometimes they DO catch that rogue cat and it is never pretty. Usually my whippets come off worse.

We have cats in the house that have done a good job of teaching Ruby that they are to be respected. Cornbread already knows the indoor cats aren’t to be bothered, but we’ll see if he feels the same if he sees one run across the yard.

Ruby has created a race track where even weeds don’t grow in our backyard.

That is a nice race track. Kobe and “Turkey” do not respect cats; every single neighbor has cats and a big time cat hoarder lives across the street. We live in constant fear.

I’m an extremist when it comes to outdoor cats, because they are such a plague on the natural world. As far as I’m concerned, outdoor cats are fair game.

But frail whippets are no match for an outdoor cat in a cage match. Kobe in particular bears the many many scars with pride, all of which cost a pretty penny to address.

Beyond there being a bunch in the area, they like to live under the shed in the backyard. It’s a summer long game between them and the dogs, which they lose a certain percentage of the time. It turns out my two big doggos are a lot more effective hunting as a pack, which is also neat to see happen.

Birds lizards and a couple of cats have also fallen victim to them hunting as a pack over the years.
